Saw Itzak Perlman last night with the Klezmer Conservatory Band. At 80, he's still a flat-out virtuoso; just incredible tone and technique and joy of being alive making music. I saw him almost 50 years ago on a rainy day in Philly playing duets with Pinches Zukerman. It was one of the most memorable live performances I've seen. And here he is, decades later, with his playing on fire. The biggest surprise was that Andy Statman was with the band too. He is a favorite mandolinist of mine and also a great virtuoso on the insrument. He went head to head with Perlman - something amazing to hear. This was one of the tunes they played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgLyXFMKGMM
But in general, for me, a little bit of klezmer music goes a long way and I prefer:

to my ears, it's a zillion variations on: Cm /F /Bb /Eb /D /Gm/ Cm /D
