The tool you can use to form new finger picks?
What is the name of the pliers, that resemble needle nose pliers...that are totally smooth & rounded? I've seen them many times, but I'm not sure what they are called, exactly?
Has anyone here used one for this reason?
Thanks!

I've seen what you're talking about but could never find anything like that. What I do is use a piece of surgical or rubber tubing and slip it over both ends of the needle-nose tips. The harder the rubber, the better it works, and that way you never scratch or gouge the fingertip. I just take it little by little until I get the result I want. It may not work for everyone, but it seems to work well for me. Just putting it out there for you.

They're commonly called Jeweler's Pliers, or Round-Nose Pliers.
Amazon has a big selection, starting at about $6.

The holes in the wrappers weaken the wrappers and will act like hinges. And will make a pentagon shape.
Those sharp bends on the picks will catch on each other, And 1 pick will fly off. To form my picks, I clamp a 3/8" drill bit in padded vice jaws, With smooth shank exposed. And use an 8oz. hammer to shape the wrappers to an oval.

I use a dapping block to fine-tune the subtle curvature of the tip of the pick.

Thanks for all of the great info., I appreciate it.
I ended up just bending to shape, a set of .020 Dunlop fingerpicks that I had in my accessories case, by hand...as my old picks were leaving black on my fingers...& I didn't want the black on the new set of strings I just put on. I usually use .0225 Dunlop picks. I will get one of the brands offered on Amazon; the rounded jewelry pliers, when I buy more .0225 picks. The banjo device seems pretty cool too.
Most of those on Amazon seem to have a lot of bad reviews. If you happen to know of a brand that has great reviews...or if you own a good quality one, please let me know....I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks very much!
